Located in scenic Signal Mountain, Tennessee, Signal Mountain Middle High School, is a somewhat new school that was originally SMMS before it was expanded to a new location. More than 1200 students are currently enrolled.
SMMHS has high standards for both academic and behavioral performance, and it has a local reputation for having well-behaved students. The School currently has different dress codes for both middle schoolers and high schoolers. SMMHS's colors are red and black. It is an International Baccalaureate school as of 2010. Their current principal is Dr. Tom McCullough. Their mascot is an eagle. As of August 2010, the student population is 97% Caucasian, 2% African American, and 1% Other. The Signal Mountain football team won the District 2A state championship in 2010. The Signal Mountain girl's golf team won state championship in 2009,2010 and 2011. The Signal Mountain volleyball team also won state in 2010.
